Whether we consume K1 or K2, the utilized portion is converted to K2 MK-4 to the same extent. Only K1 and K2 MK-4 are useful for our tissues, and each has its own ideal vitamin K ratio (MK-4/K1). Since K2 cannot be converted to K1, excessive doses of K2 can upset the ratio, while K1 cannot.
